“ "Be honest - would you kiss Daniel Bolud on the lips??" "He's a lot older than me... and surely wouldn't be into some lower-mid level finance guy" "Age and experience set aside, WOULD YOU kiss Daniel Bolud on the lips??" "I'll answer that after I eat at one of his restaurants" Believe it or not, this is a real conversation I had with a friend before coming to Le Pavillon. She, rightfully so, is obsessed with Bolud's culinary empire. For someone who has had the privilege to dine at some of New York's headliner fine dining establishments - I've never eaten at a Daniel Bolud restaurant - and I blame myself for that. I decided to break in the later half of my 20s at Le Pavillon after hearing raving reviews posted online. I went into Le Pavillon with a completely open mind and a few close relatives. I figured that the minute I turned 26, I wouldn't want a bunch of my friends around because it would have probably ended up being a vodka infused cesspool of peer induced pity. I ended up adding the caviar service on top of the regular prix fixe menu. Great choice!! I would have kissed Daniel Bolud firmly on the lips after sampling his caviar and blini service. Absolutely love the inclusion of classical caviar service elements in an elevated setting. It set the tone for the rest of the meal - modernist interpretations of impeccably prepared French classics. And it's good!!! The amuse bouche was perplexing in the best way possible. The onion tart was well worth ceding a meat forward appetizer for. The main course came with two perfectly executed surprise courses each incorporating the main protein. The dessert complete with chocolate tuile almost made me faint in a fit of passionate exuberance. While I'm surely not Bolud's type, after that meal I would have kissed him firmly on the lips. Bolud - I look forward to trying Daniel in the near future and you won't have to worry about me barging back in the kitchen and making my move. I'll let you focus on what you do best!! ”
“ We literally left LGA airport and came straight here. My husband and I were not looking homely, but we definitely were NOT dressed up. Even then everyone treated us so well and service was great! thank you for not being judgey on appearance!!! we opt for the 3 course lunch $95 pp. GET * chicken liver salad * steak * passionfruit cake (omg) * sorbet sampler our waitress had a beautiful name- Adolena. The service and especially that dessert will have us come back next time we are in NY. ”
“ Since I work nearby, this has become one of my favorite spots for a drink or two after work. While the cocktails can be a bit pricey, they're crafted to perfection, and the elegant, business-casual ambiance makes it all worth it. I highly recommend trying the Thai sausage-stuffed squid and the oysters at the bar--both were outstanding! I recently celebrated a friend's promotion here, and the service was exceptional. We opted for the six-course tasting menu with wine pairings, and I was genuinely impressed. The wine selections complemented each dish beautifully, and the pacing of the meal was perfect--I never felt rushed. The salmon was a standout for me--perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious! While the dishes were enjoyable, they didn't quite reach extraordinary, but overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. I'd come back again. ”
“ Had my eye on this place for a while because I'm a big fan of Daniel Boulud. My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here in January 2025 and both did the 3-course pre fixe. I tried: + Saturnino herran cocktail - this was like an okay margarita, wouldn't recommend + Relevé cocktail - this was like a very good whiskey sour, would recommend + Poulpe / octopus - highlight #1 + bucatini / crab - good + Boeuf / striploin - highlight #2 + Fletan / halibut - good + Kaki / creme brûlée - amazing, except for the weird dry biscuit thing it came with + noisette - fine It was more than enough food... I just wish it were slightly better. Overall I'd say the food is a 4, and +.5 for service, which was excellent. Both Daniel and Boulud Sud (rip) had better food in my memory, and this place is not quite it. 4.5 stars. ”
“ Le Pavillon has a very beautiful space, great ambiance, and tasty food! We visited for my boyfriend's birthday and were excited for a fantastic evening. However, there was a bit of a mix-up upon arrival. It was a bit disappointing. It seemed the staff didn't read the notes about the occasion and our preferred seating near the garden under the reservation--there was no birthday acknowledgment from the receptionist or hostess, and we were initially seated at a less desirable table. We also didn't receive a congratulatory postcard, which I had expected after reading about it in other reviews. Fortunately, the manager quickly accommodated us and moved us to a lovely table near the garden. We chose the 3-course experience, selecting one dish from the sea and one from the land for each course. The meal started with a delicious bread basket and a flavorful amuse-bouche (complimentary). First course: * Whole quail - perfectly roasted and paired with sweet, nutty kabocha squash, this was my favorite dish, and we were both so happy with it. * Grilled octopus with crushed yukon potatoes - was so good! The flavors were amazing and well-balanced. Main course: * Scallops baked in the shell - beautifully presented, and each bite was absolutely fantastic. * Roasted striploin with a mushroom "strudel" - absolutely delicious, another favorite! The kitchen kindly split the plate for us, which made it easy to share. Dessert: * KAKI --a crème brûlée with persimmon compote, bourbon ice cream, and maple fudge. * NOISETTE - a chocolate mousse with praline croustillant and hazelnut nougatine. We also received complimentary miniature profiteroles, and all the desserts were amazing. As for drinks, we started with a glass of sparkling champagne and then had a bottle of wine that our server recommended. The wine paired nicely with our food, and it was served at the perfect temperature. Overall, the service was nice and well-paced, and the portions were generous--we left completely full! I do wish we had received a more personal touch to make the occasion feel extra special, but the quality, flavors, and execution of every dish left a lasting impression ”
“ Another restaurant week spot. I was really excited for this one because I have been craving French food and it's affiliated with Chef Daniel Boulud. The interior was stunning, the high ceiling and greenery. But ... I think it's a ima only check it out once kind of spot for me, especially for that price point. (Maybe it's because my anticipation was too high) Unfortunately, I wasn't that impressed by the food. But the presentation was beautiful! What we ordered: Complimentary: bread and French butter Appetizers: Duck Consomme Entree: Braised Short Ribs Grilled Black Sea Bass Dessert: Lemon Tart Black Forest ”
“ Fabulous dinning experience! Ambiance is beautiful, I love the garden feel throughout the restaurant. Service is great, the staff were welcoming with fun personalities. Food was divine. My friends and I did the 3 course experience. Portions were big for fine dining! We left FULL! Oysters were beautifully presented, cooked perfectly and the parsley breading on top was full of flavor. Octopus was so damn good! Halibut was flaky, and served in the most delicious broth. My friends loved their steak. Lobster was also really good, however if I had to choose again I would have gotten the halibut. All the desserts were delicious! ”
“ We celebrated our dating anniversary at Le Pavillon, and it turned out to be such a lovely evening. The restaurant's decor and ambiance really stood out -- elegant, modern, and perfectly suited for a special occasion. The grand, airy space with those stunning glass fixtures gave it a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere, and the views of the city added a touch of magic. We went with the tasting menu, which was beautifully presented and well thought out. Every course was a feast for the eyes as much as for the palate. Some of my personal highlights included the rich seafood dishes and the refined flavors in the meat courses. The desserts were a perfect way to cap off the meal, especially with the little celebratory touch they added for our anniversary. The service was attentive. Overall, the evening felt really special. If you're looking for a restaurant that delivers an elevated dining experience with fantastic ambiance, Le Pavillon is a wonderful choice. We had a memorable time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for any special occasion. ”
“ Getting a reservation at Le Pavillion was pretty painless and my family and I had a great time. My mom has some dietary restrictions, and the staff were very accommodating. Each dish was great and portion sizes were perfect. For the appetizer I got the stuffed quail with a kabocha purée. The quail was cooked perfectly and was very juicy. The scallops were also cooked well and there were a lot of flavors on the plate that complimented each other well. Lastly, the cheesecake was not quite what I was looking for because I prefer thicker N.Y. style cheesecakes but this one was light and fluffy. My parents and I had a lovely time! ”
“ Come here regularly for work drinks, love being just at the bar and is right next to grand central so easy for anyone taking the train. It's a beautiful venue, glass windows floor to ceiling. And you know I love my high ceilings. Have come for dinners and lunches and loved the food each time as well. Good for big groups and small. Although the space feels big (thanks to the high ceilings) there's actually not a ton of seating both around the bar or in the main restaurant area so definitely recommend getting a reservation in advance for food and coming early to the bar at 5. ”
